-
Ben Franklin Tax Services previously Professional Services Texas is a CAA
for ITIN since May 2007
-
This means that we have signed a contract with the Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) ITIN office
-
We
are authorized agents by IRS ITIN office and we can issue Certificate of
Accuracy (CA) letter
-
The CA letter is issued when the taxpayer presents original or US notarized
foreign identification documents (ie: foreign passport, etc)
-
The CAA has the authority to accept or deny the documents presented. If the CAA is satisfied, only then will the CAA issue the CA letter
-
The CA letter is the only document that is required when the ITIN
application is submitted to IRS. No passport copy, etc. will be required.
This is unlike an Acceptance Agent (AA) or ITIN application prepared by the
taxpayer where they still have to send notarized copies, etc
-
The CAA also prepares and signs the ITIN application and the CA letter
-
The CAA have an exclusive (ie: not available to the general public) direct
phone line with the ITIN office in Austin, TX
-
If
any issue arises with the ITIN application prepared by the CAA, it can be
resolved relatively quickly. Otherwise, it could take from 2 to 6 months
should you prepare it yourself
